Privacy & account.

KitchenOS gives you direct control over your data and account. Most of these controls live under Settings, in the DATA & PRIVACY and SESSION sections. Account-level actions — exporting your data, withdrawing consent, and deleting your account — are for the account holder and other adults on the household.

Steps

Manage photo and voice retention

  1. From Settings, tap Photo retention to open the Privacy & data hub.
  2. Under PHOTO RETENTION, select 30 days, 90 days, or Don't retain after AI extraction. (The structured data extracted from your photos — your pantry and your logs — stays even after the photos are deleted.)
  3. Tap Delete all photos now to immediately delete all fridge and meal photos.
  4. Under VOICE RETENTION, select 7 days or 30 days. Your choices save automatically.

Opt in or out of AI training

  1. From Settings, tap AI training.
  2. Read the WHAT THIS COVERS section, then toggle Use my anonymised data to improve AI (this is OFF by default).
  3. Tap Save preference. You'll see the confirmation: "AI training preference saved."

Download your data

  1. From Settings, tap Export all data.
  2. Tap Download my data.
  3. KitchenOS prepares your data (most requests finish in under a minute; delivery is guaranteed within 30 days as the DPDP Act requires) and then automatically opens the download in an external app so you can save it.

Withdraw consent

  1. Open the Withdraw consent page, which lists your four consent categories under YOUR CHOICES.
  2. Toggle AI features, Marketing, Product analytics, or Vendor data sharing on or off. Each toggle explains what stops working when you turn it off.
  3. Tap Save preferences. Changes take effect immediately.

Delete your account

  1. From Settings, tap Delete account.
  2. In STEP 1 — CONFIRM, type DELETE in capital letters.
  3. In STEP 2 — ACKNOWLEDGE, turn on both acknowledgement toggles.
  4. In STEP 3 — FINAL CONFIRM, tap Delete my account. The success screen shows Grace period started with the date your grace period ends. Deletion runs a 30-day grace period — sign back in before it ends to restore everything; after that your account can't be recovered, and the full data purge completes by around day 37.

Tips & troubleshooting

  • Withdrawing consent does not delete your account — but turning off AI features stops AI meal planning, drug-food checks, and voice transcription (manual planning still works).
  • Crash reports keep working even if you turn off Product analytics — they're needed for safety.
  • Deleting your account starts a 30-day grace period. Sign in again before it ends to cancel. Once the grace period ends your account can no longer be recovered, and the full data purge completes by around day 37.
  • Data exports are delivered within 30 days as the DPDP Act requires, though most finish in under a minute. The download link stays valid for about 60 minutes, so save your file promptly.
  • AI training is OFF by default — KitchenOS only collects that data when you turn it on, and past data already trained on is never revisited.
